To-gather Cafe

When we say Bedok, one would probably only think of Bedok 85 Bak Chor Mee, Sambal Stingray, Oyster Omelette and the occasional Nakhon Kitchen. Having started its operations almost 6 months ago, To-gather Cafe can be considered as a new kid on the block.

Glenn and I decided to pop by To-gather Cafe after collecting my transcript at TP. For those of you who may not know, both of us reside in the west, so it is only when it is convenient would we visit cafes in the east, heh.

Even though the seating capacity of the cafe is rather limited, it also free up the space without cramping people up. We like the ambience of the cosy cafe and the decorations that lined the walls also added a touch of zakka to it.

Glenn has taken a liking to mocha recently so he ordered a Cafe Mocha ($4.50). The coffee was thick and fragrant. I got myself a Dark Chocolate ($3.80) which was rich and velvety.

Glenn ordered the Italian Herb Crusted Fish & Chips ($8.90) which was served with fries and seasonal vegetables. The fish was moist, fragrant and a slight tinge of tangy after squeezing the lemon over it. The fries were pretty normal though.

I tend to be very picky when it comes to pasta. I don't take creamy base that well and tomato base, nah. I love Aglio Olio (as much as I love Glenn hahaha) because it is such a simple, flavorful and heartwarming dish with only a few ingredients that are staples in most kitchens.

To-gather Cafe's Seafood Aglio Olio ($8.90) was easily my choice. The juicy prawns and light salmon add a nice hue of pale orange to the spaghetti. I avoid chili like a plague but the chili pepper flakes added enough kick to the aglio olio without me having to gulp down water. I wished it had more minced garlic to taste though.

We also ordered the Chocolate Lava with Vanilla Gelato ($5.90) to end off our meal.

It was a quiet weekday afternoon when we visited the cafe and I like how there are booth seats, a play area for kids (parents with little ones would appreciate this!) and my favorite of all, grey walls. To-gather Cafe also introduces new items every now and then, such as the Terriyaki Chicken Kinoko Pasta and the most recent Matcha Lava Cake!

Although it is a self service cafe, the wait staff were kind enough to bring us our food and drinks (since it was a quiet day) without having us to use the wireless paging system that will light up, beep and vibrate when our food is ready for self collection. Best part? No phony GST and service charge!
