Finally managed to take some time off from school on a Thursday to catch up with Vanessa and Eileen over a hearty lunch at Steam Sia! I'm really thankful that these girls were so spontaneous to do a last minute lunch because I really wanted to visit Steam Sia after reading about it on I-Weekly issue 785!
Located in Little India, Steam Sia is a fairly new "modern bistro bar with an old school twist".
You would not miss this counter for sure! While we were checking out the items on the counter, the owner was kind enough to let us know that the snacks on the counter were free flow and that we could pick any games we like to bring to our table to play! Here's Vanessa demonstrating!
Spot any childhood games you used to play?
And then here's me, passing some snacks to Vanessa. Haha!
I really love how these vintage round marble tables make the place so cosy!
I super love chalkboards! <3 That aside, we decided to order the two MUST TRY dishes after browsing through the menu for a very long time! We simply couldn't decide what to have for lunch because there were too many yummy choices.
Check that out! They actually use an old metal wash basin! How innovative! To think that my parents used to put their dirty clothes for washing in that kind of metal basin back in their kampung days. This is really nostalgic.
Classic Tom Yum Spaghetti with Seafood - $16.90 (4.5/5)
According to Vanessa who had this dish, the seafood (mussels and prawns) were very fresh. I couldn't resist tasting a little of Vanessa's spaghetti because of the colour! The spaghetti was cooked al dente and infused with Tom Yum which provided such a refreshing taste! Love it!
Nyonya Chicken Curry - $10.90 or $21.80 for 2 (4.5/5)
I was pleasantly surprised when this dish came because it was served on a chopping board! How oddly creative is that. Check out the pot too! Anyway, since I was sharing the curry with Eileen, both of us initially thought that the portion was rather little for two persons. But fear not! It wasn't such a small portion after all. We were very full at the end of the meal. *rubs tummy*
I cannot emphasize enough how tender the chicken drumstick and thighs were. Vanessa and I also thought that the potatoes tasted like sweet potato, which I thought went very well with the entire dish, as well as the rice. Steam Sia offers a choice of bread or rice to go with the curry.
The curry was quite thick (I like!) and went really well with the rice. Our dear Eileen was so satisfied with the curry that she finished her rice faster than I did! Either that or she was really hungry. But I would believe it's the former.

The waiter, whom I believe is one of the owner of Steam Sia, was very observant. When he saw that we started playing the games on the chopping board, he immediately came over and ask if he could help to clear the plates. This is the kind of service that I don't mind paying service charge for!
Steam Sia is an ideal place to chill and play childhood games with your friends. The three of us spent the entire afternoon there! What's more, the food is superb! You have to visit this place.
