Birthday Dinner @ Koji Sushi Bar - Virgin Omakase Experience

"Omakase is for the brave and adventurous."

For my birthday, Glenn brought me to dinner at Koji Sushi Bar! It is a tiny space with an island kitchen in the middle and counter seats surrounding it, which makes it feel very cosy.

We tried the 8 course omakase set at $98++ per person and was blown away by the quality and interesting pairing of the food that was presented by the chef. Omakase means that you entrust the chef to choose your order. It adds anticipation to your meal and the entire course of meal takes up to two hours. Do take note that advance reservation is required for the omakase set.

Started with an appetizer that was an interesting combination of tofu with raw fish and caviar.

Please take a moment to look at the tiny piece of meat second from the left. BEST SARDINE EVER.

Thoroughly enjoyed the assorted selection of sashimi as well, expecially the toro!

The lightly torched fish tasted very well with the ponzu radish served at the side!

I don't have a favorite here because everything was delicious! I was extremely touched when I had the hotate sushi though. It was sooooo nice. The tamago sushi was also out of this world. :')

I was served the clam in dashi stock as I don't take beef. The clam was juicy and sweet!

Glenn had the beef sukiyaki and he enjoyed it very much. The beef was thinly sliced and it tasted very delicious with the soup!

This was some seaweed jelly.

We ended the meal with a soybean milk panna cotta. Both of us liked that it was not overly sweet even though it was layered with black sugar which reminds us of gula melaka.

Kinda obvious who was the chef who served us that night right? Hehe.

We were seated right in front of the chef so we could have a view of our food being prepared. I also like how the staff would tell us the content of every dish and how to enjoy it each time they served us.

It was truly a memorable dining experience that I'll never forget. Thank you for the birthday treat, Glenn! :*
